Josey's Warrior Saga Birthday Party

Josey turned 10 this year and we celebrated by throwing her a Warrior's Birthday party!  Josey loves this book series.  We sat down to create our party plan about a month beforehand.  Josey gave each one of her guests a warrior name.  We served homemade blueberry scones, "fishbones", Ants on a Log and other healthy treats.  We also had sweets and pizza because for as long as I am living, a party is about fun and going wild. I am not saying that scones can't be fun and delicious but come on, no cupcakes?! Sorry other Moms.(Disclaimer- I always give fair warning and ask about restrictions ahead of time. Ha.)

The girls had a blast and Josey finally got to have her donut eating contest that she has been begging for since Halloween.  Yay sugar!

The Draw Your Own Whiskers station was a hit. The girls loved the homemade cat ears. They even wore them to school for a few weeks. I was surprised but the school allowed it.  Meow!

Halloween is my Favorite!

My daughter and I decided to throw a costume party for her friends and their parents.  We put our heads together, made our lists and drew pictures of what we wanted our party to look like!  We decided to have a Wrap the Mummy Race and to project The Great Pumpkin in the backyard.  Believe it or not, the kids actually sat for most of the movie. It is a Halloween classic that is short and sweet.  They requested MORE green popcorn! (I mixed a drop of green food coloring into the butter...shhhh)

I decided to make mini treats so the kids wouldn't overload too quickly on sugar. They did anyway. I tried. Ha!  Josey and I made mini cupcakes, mini jello cups complete with mini spoons. We also served black bean dip, flatbread pizzas, deviled eggs, mummies in a blanket, caprese skewers and Pumpkin Chili in the crockpot.  The guests loved the chocolate cake and  the Apple PEYE.  ;)

The costumes were great. The party was a blast. Josey was thrilled. We are going to make it our yearly tradition!
